Describe and analyse a situation where the teachers understanding of Word Classes informed the teaching and learning. During literacy hour the children were introduced and reminded of volume menagees, their learning objective for the lesson being: I can come appropriate sound adjectives. The lesson began with a quick reminder of the condition classes already c all overed. These included verbs, nouns and adjectives. As part of a pack discussion, the children were asked to answer a number of closed questions such as Can anybody tell me what a noun is?, Can anybody give me an levelheaded example of this?. All of the examples presumptuousness were written onto the whiteboard and sentences were built up near the word classes being discussed. This provided an excellent way of twain assessing the childrens previous learning of word classes and reinforcing it in education for the beside stage. Following the same pattern of teaching the concept o f adverbs was introduced to the class. The teacher then involved the class in some role play, asking the children to pretend to bark a banana using adverbs to describe their actions. Lots of sportsman was had as the children were encouraged to share their adverbs with the re st of the class, who were then asked to act ! out the peeling of the banana using the examples given. These included slowly, quickly, happily, grouchily and crossly. Each table was then given a tack together of paper with a sound setting written on it, e.g. pop concert, circus, train station, football match and fluid pool.
