Christianity 1 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Christianity 1 - Essay Example Poverty no doubt is one of the elements that is widespread in society. Jesus took the initiative to address the issue of poverty. Before Christianity people had different standards that defined poverty. Poverty was considered obviously to be bad and saw a person in poverty as insignificant one. However, Jesus took a different approach towards poverty. Jesus saw this as a test and said â€Å"Blessed are the poor in spirit†. Clearly, Jesus is emphasizing the fact that the poor will reach salvation and have strong faith. Moreover, Jesus goes on to say that being physically poor is completely different from being spiritually deprived. There may be a man who is deprived of nutrition, is exhausted, fatigue but can still possess an ego and have arrogance. However, a person with humbleness and poor soul is modest and will be forgiven for any minor sins. Spiritual poverty was a concept that was heavily emphasized in this sermon, and Jesus constantly persuaded his followers to be humble , modest, and to be compassionate. Jesus was a huge advocate of prayer. This could be perfectly illustrated through his statement in which he states, â€Å"If he prays, his prayer will not be compulsory, but a declaration of love which expresses the inner feelings that come from the heart and not from the lips.† In essence, Jesus is saying that prayers are necessary to reach spiritual salvation.

Case Summary - Term Paper Example At this wake, it is disputable to fix the clash between legal and logical spheres of the case that relates to the right of a person to perceived sexuality. This case takes into consideration the implication of the verdict on the social spectrum of the transsexual with regards to his/her legal rights as a spouse especially in immigration apart from considering this as an issue of an individual’s intellectual right to choose a life of his desired sexuality. A large majority of the people are able to identify the gender of a person from the secondary sexual indicators on his anatomical frame such as the body hair, breasts, voice or the size of the body. The Fight for Protecting Women Rights in 1700-1877 Research Paper - 1

The Fight for Protecting Women Rights in 1700-1877 - Research Paper Example Feminism, in the modern socio-political and philosophical domain, has been provided with special attention from every discipline of sociological studies. However, there is no denying that in order to evaluate the position of feminism as a poignant socio-political and philosophical discipline it is also important to acknowledge the history of women activism as well as the gradual process of development of the movement that was gradually germinating since late 16th century. Compared to the recent situation of women in civilized world they were tremendously challenged and consequently oppressed in the context of â€Å"expressing themselves in a patriarchal system that generally refused to grant merit to women's views.†1 One of the greatest feminist thinkers of all time, Simone de Beauvoir, in her essay â€Å"The Second Sex,† while attempted to evaluate the position of women in the traditional patriarchal system said that a woman in terms of patriarchal judgment is nothing but a womb, a mere organism for child production2. She also has specified that every time women have proved their existence as equal to their male counterparts in terms of merit and capacity of accomplishment the same system has declared that â€Å"they are not women, although they are equipped with a uterus like the rest.†3 It is clear from these observations that women in hands of the traditional social patriarchy are considered as mere instruments of sensuality, objects of attaining physical pleasure, an organic manifestation of sensuality and above all they are regarded as organisms without individual identity and human entity. The patriarchy has always denied acknowledging the humane attributes of a woman. The male-dominated social system always faced difficulty to share its monopolistic position with female counterparts and by denying humane attributes or entity of women they actually aimed at oppressing women for its selfish  benefits.

Component Based Development in Systems Integration Research Paper

Component Based Development in Systems Integration - Research Paper Example Industrial production process has a benefit as it can allow a production of multiplicity of goods in an adequate amount and also quality. Standardization and specialization are two advanced levels of industrialization. This process enables reuse, automation of menial and rote tasks. The creative tasks such as product design which cannot be standardized are performed by highly skilled and competent workers. The industrialization follows a principle of standardization, standardization and systematic reuse, and automation. Software development is a process which is slow as well as expensive in nature. Theme of The Tale of Kieu Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Theme of The Tale of Kieu - Essay Example The fortune teller hints at fate by saying "Perhaps  you must atone for some past sin" (91).   In his description of the characters and scenes, Nguyen uses elements of nature such as animals and physical features such as the moon. Tu Hai, the general, is said to have had â€Å"a tiger’s beard, a swallows jaw, and brows as thick as silkworms† (113) obviously Nguyen and the Vietnamese attribute some attributes of physical attractiveness to nature in this case each outstanding physical trait has an animal comparison. Nguyen’s level of appeal is brought out even more now that he posses the best attribute of each of the animals and not just being compared strictly to one animal. However my focus shall be on the moon as an object of imagery as it is the most mentioned in the whole text. The first obvious representation is beauty. The van sisters are described as beautiful. Van, Kieu’s sister is described as â€Å"her face a moon, her eyebrows two full curves.† As the plot unfolds further Kieu’s great beauty is emphasized even more. It is said that men found her to be so beautiful. â€Å"She ought to rule the moon† this was kieu being compared to the moon goddess Chang-O, for one to be the ruler of something as breathtaking as the moon; you surely have to be an epitome of beauty. The cycle of life is another representation of the moon. In those fifteen years Kieu went through many experiences. Some were good others not so good. In comparison the moon has a cycle. In that cycle there are bright days and dull days. In the same way the cycle of the moon causes low and high tides could be seen as a reflection of the highs and lows of Kieu’ life. Looking at the last bit of the oppressive 15 years, after running away from the convent, Kieu finds herself in a brothel (low tide), she was rescued by Tu Hai (high tide), Tu Hai dies (low tide). The rest of the story all through the poem basically unfolds in an identical

Factor behind the fall of communism in Eastern Europe Essay

Factor behind the fall of communism in Eastern Europe - Essay Example Communisms can also be well-defined as the principle of the circumstances of the public or waged people. This is a category of people in the society who live totally from the sale of their labour without profit and capital gains.   The proletariat in a word is the working class of the 19th  century. The lay man’s understanding of communism is that it is the rule of the gun in which the elite minority control the masses through all manner of oppression and exploitation, it started in 1945 and ended in 1991. Before the end of cold war in 1991 the world was divided into two blocs the Eastern and the Western (Western Europe and America). The Eastern Bloc which was the communist comprised of the Soviet Union, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Romania, East Germany, Hungry and Yugoslavia, with Poland being the largest communist country  apart from the Soviet Union however there were other communist  countries outside Europe such as Cuba (Levesque, 2010, p. 7). Many factors were respon sible for the collapse of communism, in this essay only three are explored namely nationalism, economic and ideology. Great emphasis is placed on economic as the main cause that affected Eastern Europe. Communism collapsed in 1989 and the iron curtain was dismantled with the demolition of the Berlin wall (Zubok, 2010, p.7). A long period of silence existed known as the cold war and set the world in two separate blocs the western and the eastern plus their allies. The standoff resulted into tension, suspicion, anxiety and fear among the rivaling blocs. An opaque situation existed known as the Iron Curtains that promoted heinous acts of oppression, nepotism, corruption and lack of accountability between the two blocs. This resulted into separation of Europe with a manmade Berlin wall. The insecurity and tension felt on both sides led to the nuclear arms race giving rise to the development of defense organizations in Europe i.e. the WARSAW pact and the NETO (Howard, 2003, p. 10).
